I'm 43 years old, from United Kingdom.

Born in a little village called TONGWYNLAIS in south wales on 12th December 1955, Why???? I hear you say...
Joined the Royal Welch Fusilers for 7 years(never been the same since) then went into the Metropolitan Police in London for 7 years. Now I do something else ???????????/

This originated in Scotland just over 100 years ago as 'The real Mackay' and
Referred to people and things of the highest quality and in particular, to a
Brand of whisky.

Later in America, it became 'the real McCoy' in honour of an outstanding boxer
Of that name. McCoy it is said did every thing he could to stop being provoked
Into a fight by some drunk, but in the end had no option and laid out the drunk
With one punch. The drunk got up later brushed himself down and said,"your
Right it is the real McCoy"

The Real Mcoy......
A Flash In The Pan Have you ever heard of the expression "A flash in the pan"?

This expression is used when nothing comes of a situation eg.. Joe said he was
going to upgrade my computer for me but he never did it was just a flash in the
pan.

The expression comes from the 14th century or there abouts, when a weapon
called a firelock was developed. The firelock consisted of a smoth-bore tube,
at the butt end of the barrel was a saucer like depression by the touchhole.
The depression was called the flashpan. The idea was to fill the barrel with
powder and shot, then to put a small charge of powder into the flashpan, to
this was aplied a slow match thus igniting the charge sending a flash through
the touch hole to the powder and shot in the barrel thus discharging the
weapon. Well that was the idea but most of the time the charge in the flashpan
would ignite but little else would happen( apart from the person being killed
by his foe).
So there you have it.

A FLASH IN THE PAN!
